US President Donald Trump said on Sunday (May 5) that he had a “very good and productive” telephone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, where they discussed a wide range of international issues, including the Ukrainian War, Syria and the Gaza Crisis.
Trump shared an update in truth social post and emphasized his desire to see the immediate end of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
“I look forward to working with President Erdoğan on how to end the ridiculous but deadly war between Russia and Ukraine ended – now!” Trump wrote.
The statement comes at a time when growing global anxiety over the outstretched conflict of Russia-Ukraine, and reflects Trump’s ongoing effort to throw himself on the world scene as a peacemaking.

Trump appreciated his past relationship with Erdoğan and remembered the moments of close cooperation during the first term.
