
According to a media report, the director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Poe Sood, will probably get an annual extension.
During the meeting of a three -member committee at a high level led by Prime Minister Narendra Modim on Monday, May 5, there was no consensus about any of the proposed names for the new CBI director, Indian Express said.
The opposition leader (LOP) in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi and the main judge of India, Sanjiv Khanna, are two other members who met in the Prime Minister’s office to complete his name. The meeting began around 18:45 and ended until 19:30.

Who is the only SOOD?
Pooleen SOOD, from 1986-the Indian Police Services (IPS) from Karnataka cadre and former Chief of the State Police, took over the accusations of the Central Office for the investigation in May 2023, followed by Subodh Kumar Jaiswal.
SOOD served in various important positions during his long tenure for about 37 years in IPS.
Pooleen Sood also worked as an advisor to the government of Mauritius. He supervised the investigation of cases of significant cases concerning individuals with a high net value, cases where they have international and international consequences, as well as to investigate and detect crimes, including problems related to cyber fraud and information technology.
According to the 2019 Supreme Court Directive, officers who have less than six months of service do not have eligible to assess the post of CBI director. The court also ordered that the possession of the director must be at least two years and that any transfer can only take place with the approval of the appointment committee.
