Man arrested for impersonating doctor in Hyderabad

The Hyderabad Task Force along with the Golconda Police arrested a 23-year-old man for impersonating a qualified doctor and treating patients without the required medical qualification or license at a nursing center in Golconda.

Accused Mohd. Adnan, a resident of Kumarwadi in Dhankota, was nabbed during a raid at Hikma Sehath Care Center in Mohalla Gunj. Police said the center was run with the assistance of his mother Saba Khan alias Mohammadi Begum and brother Mohd. Faizan who are currently on the run.

According to the police, Adnan completed Intermediate with CEC subjects between 2018 and 2020 and did not have a recognized medical qualification. At the care center, he treated patients with complaints including sexual health problems, breathing difficulties, chest pain, repeated vomiting, severe body aches, kidney and side pain, and problems urinating. Police said Adnan and his family claimed to practice as ancestral hakeems.

Adnan started working at Hikma Health Care in 2023 with an Unani doctor, Munarwa Begum, who is BUMS qualified. According to the police, Adnan, his mother and brother entered into an agreement with the doctor under which she was paid ₹13,000 per month for occasional visits to the clinic.

During the raid, police seized a large quantity of unmarked drugs and pills, many of which only had codes written on the tags. The seized material included 20 one-kg packets of powder marked ‘Talbina’ and several other bottles. Police also seized prescription books bearing the name Hikma Health Care and five books related to a Facebook page called ‘Dr. Adnan Official’.

A case was registered at Golconda Police Station under Sections 318(4) and 125 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
