PP Umer Musliyar Koyyode was elected General Secretary of Samastha

PP Umar Musliyar Koyyode of Kannur has been selected as the new General Secretary of Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama Sunni Scholars Forum. He served as the organization’s treasurer.

He was selected for the post at a ‘mushawara’ (executive committee) meeting of the Samastha held on Wednesday (September 23, 2026) in Kozhikode. The post fell vacant following the resignation of incumbent K. Alikutta Musliyar in July. The charge was temporarily held by MT Abdulla Musliyar, Joint Secretary.

Syed Mohammed Jifri Muthukoya Thangal, President of Samastha, told the media that Mr. Abdulla Musliyar will be the new treasurer of the organization. V. Moosakoya Musliyar (Wayanad) and AV Abdurahman Musliyar (Kozhikode) would be the vice-presidents. Panangangara Hyder Faizy (Malappuram) will replace Mr. Abdulla Musliyar as Joint Secretary.

Meanwhile, Mr. Thangal said an eight-member advisory committee has been formed to discuss important matters related to the Samastha as the ‘mushawara’ meetings are held only once in two months. In addition to the President, General Secretary and Treasurer, the other members of the committee would be Mr. The meeting was attended by PK Hamsakutty Musliar Adrissery, Vakkod Moideenkutty Musliar and PM Abdulsalam Baqavi.

The organization’s ‘Fatwa’ committee would be revived to answer important questions about Samastha. Mr Thangal (Chairman) Abdullah Musliyar (Convener); Its members will be Umer Musliyar, PK Moosakutty Hasrath, CK Abdulrahman Faizy Aripra and Abdul Gafoor Anwari.

On Samastha Secretary Mukkam Umar Faizy’s critical remarks on the Muslim League of India and the United Democratic Front government over the Waqf dispute, Mr. Thangal said the new committee would discuss them and take an appropriate decision. The committee has convened all the stakeholders, he added.
