Drugs worth ₹43 crore seized in Bengaluru, two arrested

The Jeevan Bima Nagar police arrested two men for allegedly dealing in prohibited drugs and recovered 150 gm of amphetamine and 264 gm of suspected narcotics, besides a two-wheeler and two mobile phones. The total value of the seized items was estimated at ₹24 crore, while their market value is around ₹43 crore, police said.

The accused have been identified as Abdul Jabir, 28, a POP worker and resident of Rajendra Nagar, Vivek Nagar and Asgar Ali R., 31, a laboratory technician of Neelasandra, Vivek Nagar. Both have no prior criminal records, according to police.

Acting on a tip-off received on September 19, the police registered a case under the NDPS Act and raided an open place near the service road of the Domlur Bypass where the accused were allegedly selling banned narcotics.

The police first seized 32 grams of amphetamine, a two-wheeler allegedly used in the offense and two mobile phones from the pair.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly told police that they were buying banned drugs from unknown persons from abroad at lower prices and selling them at higher prices to the public, including college students, for profit.

Acting on the information of the accused, the police searched their apartment in Vivek Nagar and seized another 118 grams of amphetamine and 264 grams of suspected narcotics.

Both accused were produced before the court on September 20 and remanded in police custody for five days. After further investigation, they were brought before the court again on September 22 and it sent them to judicial custody.

The investigation continues to identify the suppliers who allegedly provided the drugs to the accused
