Suspected food poisoning: Paramedics inspect beverage outlet in Kannur

Health and Food Safety officials carried out an inspection at a popular Caltex drinks outlet on Wednesday (23 September 2026) following complaints of suspected food poisoning from people who had consumed a shake from the establishment.

Health officials said several people, including children, reportedly sought medical treatment after developing health problems. Those who are said to have suffered food poisoning are being monitored. Health officials said samples from the store would be sent for testing.

The complaints are said to be related to an incident on September 21, 2026, where seven members of a family from Kannur consumed a cocktail from the outlet and subsequently developed health problems.

They reportedly sought treatment at the Kolachery Primary School. The cases were later reported to the Ministry of Health.
