SFI and KSU activists clash in Kerala capital

A tense situation prevailed in the capital on Monday evening when clashes broke out between activists of the Students Federation of India (SFI) and the Kerala Students Union (KSU) near Palayam. Clashes between the CPI(M) and Congress student unions began after the respective organizations’ victory celebrations following the Kerala University Union elections. The police had to resort to lathciharge and use water cannons to bring the situation under control. CPI(M) leader MVJayarajan, who reached the spot, accused the police of indulging in selective targeting of SFI activists.
