Telangana EAGLE Force gets national recognition for anti-drug efforts

Telangana’s efforts to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse have received national recognition, with the State Narcotics Bureau and EAGLE Force securing over 80% marks in the seven parameters prescribed by the Union government for the performance evaluation of Anti-Narcotics Task Forces (ANTF).

Eagle Force Director Sandeep Shandilya received the national-level award on behalf of the Telangana Police from Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the third National Conference of Drug Task Force Leaders in New Delhi on Tuesday (September 22).

The performance of state ANTFs was assessed on seven key parameters, including intelligence operations; control of precursors and synthetic drugs; prosecution; demand and harm reduction; coordination and capacity building; research and analysis; and administration and logistics.

Telangana scored more than 80% overall. As part of efforts to strengthen criminal prosecution in narcotics cases, the state has established special support mechanisms including legal review, judicial analysis, witness protection and prosecution support.

Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand regularly reviews the functioning of the Eagle Force and directs district police inspectors and other unit officers to prioritize the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse. The DGP congratulated Mr. Shandilya and the officers and staff of the EAGLE force for securing the national recognition.
