Report of match over loud music during Ganesha idol procession, immersion: HC to police

Justice NV Shravan Kumar of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday observed that cases of loud sound systems being played while transporting Ganesha idols for immersion are disturbing people.

“Prima facie, noise pollution appears to be loud and continuing,” the judge said while hearing a contempt of court petition seeking violation of the guidelines regarding the practice of Ganesha celebrations passed by the HC in 2025. The judge made it clear that the order regarding Ganesha celebrations passed by the HC on August 25 last year was applicable across the state for the current year as well.

Noise pollution created by loud music along the immersion route caused problems for the elderly and people suffering from illnesses. The organizers had failed to comply with the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, the judge said. The judge directed the home minister to submit a report by Thursday on the compliance of Ganesh idol immersion regulations in and around Hyderabad.
