Living in Gurgaon can be expensive as rent, food, transport and daily household expenses add up quickly. A couple from the city offered a detailed look at their expenses and revealed how they used them ₹1.2 million during August.
Mohit and Jyotsna, who are in their 30s, shared their monthly expenses in an Instagram video titled “How much we spent as a married couple (in our 30s) living in Gurgaon in August!
A Gurgaon couple spends ₹36,000 for rent and maintenance
The couple said their biggest monthly expense is ₹36,000 to pay for the rent and maintenance of his 3 BHK house.
they spend ₹6,000 for domestic help which covers cooking, cleaning and kitchen work. Their Wi-Fi and cell phone bills ₹3,500, while subscriptions to OTT platforms and music services cost more ₹2000.

Food and other household necessities form ₹25,000 from their monthly budget. They also allocate around ₹3000 for their dog including food and accessories.
Eating out and traveling add to your monthly expenses
Weekend trips for coffee and food cost a couple approx ₹15,000 every month. In addition, they spend approx ₹3,000 on food delivery and takeout orders.
The couple said they didn’t have a car. Instead, they spend approx ₹5,000 on fuel and taxis while traveling in Delhi and Gurgaon. However, their daily commute to the office is “completely free”.
Grooming is responsible for more ₹5000 while ₹10,000 goes towards housing and wellness expenses.
₹1.2 million does not include investments
The couple clarified that ₹The 1.2 million represents their monthly spending, not their entire combined income.
According to them, they save money separately for investments. Whatever is left over from their individual salaries, they each keep for personal expenses.
