The officers said to ensure an error-free electoral roll

KB Sivakumar, Managing Director, KSRTC and Observer for Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls, instructed the officials of Shivamogga district administration to ensure error-free electoral roll by following proper procedure.

Mr. Shivakumar held a review meeting with the officers at Shivamogga on Tuesday, during which he discussed the measures needed to ensure a flawless outcome. Based on the draft list, the administration found irregularities involving 48,666 voters, including 15,164 names that could not be included in the old voter list.

The police officers should collect the necessary documents from the affected voters to resolve these discrepancies. Cabin level officers must carefully verify the names of deceased, permanently shifted and fake records and delete these names as per due process. Officers must maintain records and files for every procedure they handle, he said.

Mr. Shivakumar also asked the officers to conduct awareness campaigns to enroll new voters above 18 years of age, stressing that no eligible voter should be omitted from the electoral roll.

Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti, Deputy Commissioner HPS Mythri, tahsildars and other officers were present in the meeting.
