G. Palanithurai appointed advisor to Minister Anand

Veteran academician and panchayat raj expert G. Palanithurai has been appointed as advisor to Minister for Rural Development-Panchayat Raj and Minister for Water Resources N. Anand.

Apart from providing “expert advice” to the minister on matters related to panchayat raj and rural development, he will lead the government with regard to capacity building in village panchayats.

Prof. Palanithurai, formerly of the Gandhigram Rural Institute, Dindigul, has been attached to the State Institute of Rural Development for administrative reasons.

He will draw an honorarium of ₹ 1 lakh per month, according to a government order issued earlier this month.
