Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMCRI) contractual staff organized a protest on Saturday due to unpaid wages and inconsistencies in salaries as a result of alleged errors in the biometric system.
Workers, including hygienic workers, departments and security staff associated with the All India United Exond Center (Aiutuc), gathered in front of the dean office to seek their requirements.
Ugra Narasimhe Gowd of Janandolanagal Mahamaithri and Sarvoday Karnatak, who participated in the demonstration, said that about 700 to 800 contracting workers had not been paid their proper wages in the last three months.
The statement issued by the branch of Mysur Aiutuc stated that there were inconsistencies in the salaries of contracting staff due to alleged errors in the biometric system. Workers demanded immediate payments of waiting wages and solutions in salaries.
Meanwhile, the notification issued by the MMCRI Contracting Union, the Dean of the Dean, sought immediate implementation of legal benefits, leaving wages, waiting wages, arrears from the Provisional Fund and the salaries of outsourced workers employed in MMCRI.
The Union argued that private agencies that outsourced workers have created employment uncertainty by depriving them of basic equipment and denied minimum wages, employee insurance, interim fund of employees, holiday payments and other safety equipment as prescribed for outsourced workers.
It also stressed that minimum wages for city local authorities should apply to outsourcing hygienic staff employed in universities and hostels. For those working in the dining room, halls and care centers for mothers and children, the minimum wage set for hospitals and nursing home should be used. Similarly, security staff working in all MMCRI institutions should be provided by the minimum wage set for the Security Agency industry.
Since the wages paid over the last ten years have been lower than the amount prescribed for the above -mentioned industrial industries, different wage arrears should be paid either by the supplier or MMCRI, it required the Union.
He also demanded that outsourced staff be provided with the necessary uniforms, safety equipment, except for washing 1,000 GBP per month.
