Death of Twisha Sharma: SC pains to handle case, asks media to maintain restraint; CBI team sent to Bhopal

The narrative began as a potential accused mother-in-law began giving interviews: the Attorney General

Commenting on the CJI’s comments on a certain narrative surrounding the trial of the case, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta says the narrative started because one of the potential accused, the mother-in-law, “started giving interviews jumping from one channel to another and almost defaming the deceased”.

The FIR was registered on May 15, the SG informed the court, adding that the mother-in-law moved for anticipatory bail on May 14 and got it the next day. “This is disputed. Despite our repeated requests to record her statement, there is no cooperation. We informed her that we will come there and record her statement. She refused.”

“We were only able to confiscate the mobile device with difficulty. The investigation is ongoing, so I would not like to prejudge the case,” adds the general prosecutor.
