TN Minister of Power Resources Launches State Solar Subsidy Scheme

The government on Monday launched the Tamil Nadu Rooftop Solar Subsidy Scheme to encourage domestic consumers to install rooftop solar power plants. CTR Power Minister Nirmal Kumar launched the scheme in Chennai.

Mr. Nirmal Kumar said that Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced a special additional subsidy for rooftop solar power plants in the Assembly and earmarked ₹50 crore for the purpose in the current financial year.

Consumers who have applied from August 5 will be eligible for a combined central and state government subsidy of ₹35,000 for 1 kilowatt (kW), ₹70,000 for 2kW and ₹1,00,000 for 3kW, he added.

The minister said the subsidy scheme had set a target of achieving the installation of rooftop solar power plants in one million households by March next year.

Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) has launched a portal request and provide mode details.

The website will provide all information related to residential rooftop solar system including subsidy details from central and state government, installation instructions, application procedures, application status, list of authorized solar dealers and other relevant information.
