Toddy shop owner, staff reserved for allegedly serving minors

The North Paravur police arrested a licensee and an employee of a toddy shop for allegedly serving liquor to three minors, two 16-year-old girls and a boy.

The case was registered on Sunday (September 20) based on a complaint by a relative of one of the minors. The incident came to light after one of the girls collapsed on the roadside on the outskirts of the city, allegedly after consuming a drink.

Police informed the girl’s relatives and took her to hospital, according to police sources. They said medical examinations later confirmed that the excessive consumption of toddy had caused physical suffering to the girl.
