Yash Dayal breaks silence after missing IPL 2026, refutes RCB statement

Yash Dayal has finally broken his silence over his absence from the ongoing IPL 2026 season, publicly contradicting the explanation offered earlier by Royal Challengers Bengaluru Director of Cricket Mo Bobat. The left-arm spinner, who played a key role in RCB’s maiden campaign to win the IPL title in 2025, said not participating in the tournament was not his personal decision.

Speaking on the Talk with Manvendra podcast, the 28-year-old revealed that the decision to stay away from IPL 2026 was taken by the authorities and not by him. Dayal also admitted that watching RCB matches from home was emotionally difficult and added that he misses being around the team and the atmosphere in the dressing room.

“Of course if you’re sitting outside. When I watch them on TV sometimes I just stand up. But then it’s my team and they didn’t take me off. They kept me on the substitutes list and didn’t get me a replacement. They probably think I’m an important part,” Dayal said.

“The second thing is that my opting out this season was not my personal decision. The statement may be controversial but the decision is always taken by the authority. I don’t know what was the reason behind RCB’s decision. I miss him a lot. I don’t know if the team misses me, the fans will say that,” Dayal added.

WHAT DID RCB SAY ON YASH DAYAL?

Before the start of the season, Mo Bobat confirmed that Yash Dayal will miss the tournamentwhile reiterating that Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued to support the left-arm pacer and kept him going despite the circumstances. Bobat described the matter as personal and stressed that Dayal remained under contract with the Bengaluru-based franchise.

“So just to confirm that Yash will not be joining the team. As you know he is going through a personal situation at the moment and just to clarify, we have been very supportive of Yash to date and that is reflected in the fact that we kept him when we had the option to either keep or release the player.”

“We wanted to keep him and he remains under contract and will continue to be under contract in the short term,” Bobat told the media at a press conference.

Dayal, meanwhile, revealed that he remains in regular touch with senior members of the squad, including batting coach Dinesh Karthik, adding that there was no communication gap between them.

“I have spoken to the management. I have spoken to the director and also the coach and also Dinesh Karthik. We are communicating at intervals and the connection has not broken. There is no communication gap. Everything is clear and sorted,” Dayal said.

YASH DAYAL faces serious charges

Yash Dayal is facing serious legal scrutiny following multiple allegations of sexual assault and exploitation in separate cases filed in Jaipur and Ghaziabad. One of the complaints, registered under the POCSO Act in Jaipur, alleges that Dayal sexually abused the minor over a prolonged period with the promise of helping her build a cricket career. The complainant also accused him of emotional manipulation and intimidation.

In another case filed in Ghaziabad, Dayal was accused of sexual exploitation on the pretext of marriage. On December 24, 2025 a special POCSO court in Jaipur rejected his anticipatory bail pleaciting the seriousness of the charges and the need for caution in cases involving minors.

While Dayal’s legal team denied the allegations and called the relationship consensual, prosecutors argued that consent is irrelevant in cases involving minors and said prima facie evidence supported the complaint.
