KTR talks about 24×7 drinking water supply in Hyderabad if voted to power

HYDERABAD

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao on Monday said that once he is voted back to power, the BRS dispensation will ensure 24-hour safe drinking water supply to every household in Hyderabad city.

Addressing a meeting of party cadres in Kukatpally constituency, he said that the previous BRS government had transformed Telangana from a state plagued by severe power shortage to a state with uninterrupted power supply and would similarly ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water to Hyderabad in the future.

Recalling the conditions before the creation of Telangana, Mr. Rao said the region had suffered long power cuts and shortage of drinking water during decades of Congress rule. Protests and agitations for electricity and water were common during the undivided state.

However, once Telangana was formed, the K. Chandrasekhar Rao-led government successfully introduced 24-hour power supply and launched Mission Bhagiratha to provide drinking water to households across the state, he said. The same decision would now go towards ensuring uninterrupted supply of drinking water in Hyderabad, he said.

“The person who provided 24-hour power supply to Telangana is KCR and the person who will provide 24-hour drinking water supply to Hyderabad is also KCR,” he said. He said that once the BRS returns to power, he will personally take responsibility for ensuring the successful implementation of the program.

Hitting out at the ruling Congress, he alleged that the Congress party had cheated every section of the society with unrealistic promises during the assembly elections. He said Congress has failed to deliver on promises ranging from increased Social Security pensions to monthly financial assistance for women.

He accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of taking fake credit by commissioning projects built during the previous BRS regime – including flyovers, hospitals and major infrastructure facilities. He alleged that the Congress leaders were merely cutting the ribbons for the projects built under the BRS administration while falsely portraying them as their own achievements.

To ensure support for construction workers, Mr. Rao said the BRS government would introduce insurance and welfare schemes for construction workers and workers at the center after returning to power. On the upcoming BRS membership drive, he said it will be held exclusively in digital mode.

During the Kukatpally meeting, Mr. Rao also made a detailed presentation on special intensive revision of electoral rolls and urged party workers to remain vigilant against alleged fake and duplicate votes likely to be registered by the Congress and the BJP. He suggested booth-level workers to act to ensure that not a single genuine voter is disenfranchised.
