DUSU polls: Dipke claims they have a lot of money, says fighters travel in luxury cars
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) convener Abhijeet Dipke has alleged that the power of money is driving elections, pointing to the recent victory in the Delhi University Students’ Union poll and claiming that campaigners travel in luxury cars.
The ABVP, an offshoot of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Saturday won three of the four DUSU central panel posts in the polls that unfolded after the recent CJP-led Gen Z protests.
The Congress-backed National Students Union of India (NSUI) failed to secure any of the four central panel posts, with the ABVP winning the posts of president, secretary and joint secretary.
Asked about the DUSU polls, Mr Dipke told reporters on Sunday (September 20, 2026) evening: “Money works in elections and nothing else. Those campaigning in DU come in Rolls Royces which cost crores of rupees. They come in Audis, BMWs. So money works there.” On Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s claim that the BJP-led government was promoting people with ideological affiliations, Dipke echoed similar concerns.
”In Amravati, I saw that Vice Chancellor Kumud Sharma (VC Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Wardha, located near Amravati) is from RSS ideology. Since she became VC, FIRs have been registered against more than 50 students,” he claimed.
“When students protest something, an FIR is registered against them. But when ABVP opposes something or locks any gate, no FIR is registered against them. Only Dalit, Adivasi students who oppose the ideology are reserved. It is a plan to turn the institutions (universities) into shakhas of the RSS,” alleged Dipke.
The CJP founder further claimed that students are losing faith in the education system.
”Maharashtra Public Service Commission aspirants have been demanding the resignation of MPSC Chairman Vivek Bhimanwar (on corruption charges) for many days and have been agitating for it. Students have lost faith in the examination system. How can students keep the faith that the exams will be conducted transparently until Bhimanwar resigns?” he asked.
Mr. Dipke said the CJP along with the MPSC aspirants would soon launch an online campaign ‘Bhimanwar Rajinama Dya’ (resignation of Bimanwar) in which students would explain who Bhimanwar is, what his “achievements” are, his relationship with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and why he must resign.
On the death of an IIT Bombay student last week, Mr Dipke said it could not be justified just because he was caught cheating.
The student was found dead on Friday (September 18, 2026) evening, hours after officials said he was allegedly caught using a mobile phone and ChatGPT during a midterm exam.
”Suicide incident at IIT Bombay is painful. This is a result of students losing confidence in the education system. Children die in underdeveloped areas as well as in big cities. They commit suicide because they feel that there is no one to support them,” claimed Mr. Dipke.
“Suicide cannot be justified if he is caught cheating. Have we ever heard of a minister who committed suicide after being caught in corruption, or a businessman who robbed a bank and ran away? Mental health counseling is more important here. It was not a serious mistake to justify suicide,” he said.
Speaking about his recent trip to Vidarbha where he also visited tribal schools, the CJP leader alleged that students were not provided with proper facilities.
”Ashram schools (residential schools) receive a large amount of funding. Recently, three students died of snakebite (in Gadchiroli) but students are still not getting beds and are still sleeping on the ground. The girls had to bathe in the open, and the boys’ bathrooms had no roof or door. Are they animals?” he asked.
”If you cannot provide a decent education, then for what reason are you in power? Dipke said, targeting the government.
He further said that the “Adivasi School Thik Karo” campaign will continue and expand across the country.
“I have visited parts of Maharashtra and will also go to Gujarat, which no one is asking me about,” he added.
On the Election Commission’s decision to freeze the name and symbol of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Dipke said Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar should join the ruling BJP, dissolve all opposition parties and freeze their symbols.
“One party will compete and one party will win the election,” he quipped.
