Asian Games 2026: Himanshu Dhillon wins silver, Rudrankksh Patil takes bronze in 10m air rifle

Himanshu Dhillion won silver in the 10m air rifle individual event. India’s Himanshu Dhillon and Rudrankksh Patil added an individual silver and bronze to the country’s shooting at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Monday, capping a memorable morning after the pair had earlier helped India win silver in the men’s 10m air rifle team event.Himanshu held his nerve in the seven-set final to finish second with a score of 252.4, while Rudrankksh finished with 230.9 for the bronze. China’s reigning Olympic champion Sheng Lihao won gold with 254.2, finishing 1.8 points ahead of Himanshu.The two Indians entered the final on eight shooters after producing strong qualifying scores in the morning. Rudrankksh finished third in qualifying with 631.8 while Himanshu was seventh with 630.0. He remained in contention for a medal throughout the elimination phase, eventually finishing second behind Sheng.Meanwhile, Rudrankksh opened with 52.8 and moved into the medal positions early in the final. He stayed in the top three in the elimination rounds before finishing with 230.9.The individual medals came just hours after Rudrankksh, Himanshu and Parth Mane combined to score 1890.1 points to claim silver in the men’s 10m air rifle event. China won gold with a world record 1899.0, while South Korea won bronze with 1884.2.The double podium finish means all three Indian shooters who qualified for the team event contributed to the medal performance, with Parth missing out on the individual final after qualifying 10th.For Rudrankksh, the bronze adds another Asian Games medal to his collection after he was part of the Indian men’s 10m air rifle team that won the gold medal at the Hangzhou Games. His latest medal also comes after he won an individual gold at the Asian Rifle and Pistol Championships in New Delhi earlier this year.For Himansha, the silver is a major individual achievement at the Asian Games and will be his first appearance in the final of the 10m Air Rifle Individual event.India’s shooting campaign in Aichi-Nagoya has now produced a slew of medals in the 10m air rifle events. Elavenil Valarivan earlier won the individual silver after she was also part of the Indian women’s 10m air rifle team that won the silver.With Himanshu’s silver and Rudrankkshe’s bronze adding to the team silver won earlier on Monday, India’s 10m air rifle campaign brought three medals in the men’s event alone.The result also bolsters the early momentum of the Indian shooting contingent, which produced a record 22 medals, including seven golds, at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
