Father sentenced to 20 years in prison in Ranga Reddy POCSO case

A Ranga Reddy district court sentenced a 37-year-old man to 20 years rigorous imprisonment in a POCSO case registered by the Shabad of the Future City Police Commissionerate. The court also awarded a compensation of ₹7 crore to the victim.

The man, a laborer from Kurvaguda village in Shabad mandal, was found guilty under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 2012.

According to police, a complaint was received on October 12, 2024 alleging that the victim had been sexually assaulted multiple times by her father at their residence. Based on the complaint, the case was registered at the Shabád police station.

During the investigation, the police collected oral, documentary and scientific evidence, interviewed witnesses and later filed charges in court.

After the trial, the Special Sessions Judge for POCSO Cases at LB Nagar convicted the accused and sentenced him to 20 years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹2,500.
