Arsenal lose top spot in Premier League after Brighton shock, Raphinha shines for Barcelona

The Ravens have climbed to third place after a strong week which included a League Cup win over Manchester United.Arsenal went down to Manchester City on goal difference and City can move within three points if they beat Sunderland on Sunday.Tottenham eventually found the net but still lost 3-2 at home to reigning Europa League champions Aston Villa. Newcastle beat Hull City 2-1, Everton beat Ipswich 1-0, while Coventry ended a four-match losing streak by beating Nottingham Forest 1-0.

Raphinha dominates Barcelona

Barcelona continued their excellent start to the La Liga season with a 3-1 win away at Sevilla to make it seven league wins in a row. Raphinha was the star with a hat-trick and Lamine Yamal scored twice.Raphinha has now scored 12 league goals, just one short of the 13 he managed all of last season. Barcelona have scored 31 goals in seven games to move six points ahead of Real Madrid, who face Atletico Madrid on Sunday.Sevilla took the lead through Youssouf Fofana, but Raphinh equalized midway through the first half after getting inside and finding the bottom right corner. Yamal then used his quick footwork to beat the Sevilla defense before crossing for Raphinh to head home in the 52nd minute. The young winger later assisted Raphinh again for the third time.Elsewhere in Spain, Rayo Vallecano striker Sergio Camello scored his seventh goal of the season in a 1-1 draw at Osasuna. Racing Santander, who lost 7-2 to Barcelona in midweek, suffered another heavy defeat, losing 5-0 to Celta Vigo. Pablo Duran scored twice. Athletic Bilbao and Alaves played out a goalless Basque derby.

Inter are struggling in Italy and Dortmund are on top in Germany

Inter Milan came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Roma in a clash between two unbeaten teams. Roma midfielder Manu Koné scored twice in the first half but Lautaro Martinez struck twice after the break to rescue a point for Inter.Koné opened the scoring in the sixth minute after Nahuel Molina headed back Paulo Dybala’s cross. He scored again in the 37th minute after setting up Gianluca Mancini. The goal was initially ruled out for offside, but was upheld after video review.Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini stopped the sale of Koné to Inter during the offseason. Martinez pulled one back soon after half-time and completed the turnaround in the 79th minute.Lazio beat Venezia 2-0 while Cagliari continued their strong start with a 1-0 win over Udinese. Daniel Maldini, son of former Italian defender Paolo Maldini, scored for Cagliari. Bologna drew 1-1 with Torino after recently sacking coach Domenico Tedesco.In the German Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund moved to the top of the table with their fourth win in a row as Maximilian Beier’s goal beat Stuttgart 1-0.Dortmund now have a two-point lead over defending champions Bayern Munich.Borussia Moenchengladbach’s coaching change failed to halt their poor run as the team lost 4-3 at home to Mainz and conceded 16 goals for their fourth straight defeat. Freiburg drew 2-2 with Eintracht Frankfurt after twice coming from behind to stay level with Bayern. Werder Bremen and Hamburg also secured home victories.In France, Ghana striker Ernest Nuamah scored twice as Lyon beat Rennes 4-0. Paris FC remained unbeaten after beating Strasbourg 2-1 as Ilan Kebbal and Pablo Pagis scored. Manager Liam Rosenior faced his former club after leaving Strasbourg for a short spell at Chelsea earlier this year.
