Issues with Section 22-A will be resolved soon, says Ponguleti

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the government is phasing in 12 measures announced by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the legislature to resolve long-standing land issues under Section 22-A of the Registration Act.

Government Orders (GOs) 118 and 76 have already been issued to regularize houses in colonies and home sites in the Singareni region, he said.

Mr. Srinivas Reddy along with Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin and others distributed legalization certificates to beneficiaries from 44 colonies of LB Nagar constituency at Saroornagar Indoor Stadium.

He said that the government has resolved the issues related to 44 out of 64 colonies in the constituency as per the instructions of the Chief Minister. The government has issued clear instructions to the district collectors to resolve the issues irrespective of the political affiliation of the representatives in the area, he said.

Referring to GO 118, the minister said that Mr. Revanth Reddy had promised to implement it in LB Nagar when he was the MP from Malkajgiri and that the government had fulfilled the promise.

Mr. Srinivas Reddy said that the government would resolve the issues related to some other beneficiaries in Medchal and Rangareddy districts under GO 118 within a month. He assured the residents that their houses would not be demolished and said that the properties facing restrictions imposed by the previous government would be regularized after due process.

The minister said that several colonies remained in the list of 22-A prohibited properties and the 22-A restrictions have been in place since Andhra Pradesh was once united and alleged that some people are using the matter to spread misinformation.

Government regulations aimed at solving problems related to registration, including those who did not apply earlier, will be issued in about a week, he said. The Chief Minister will soon make a formal announcement on the matter.

He also said that the government is continuing to implement GO 76 for the regularization of single-family houses in the Singareni region. A three-member committee has been constituted for this purpose and the government expects to comprehensively resolve the issue within 45 days, he said.

The minister said the government is also working on issuing Bhudhaar cards to farmers in rural areas on the lines of Aadhaar cards to provide more comprehensive land ownership records.

Among those present were LB Nagar MLA D. Sudheer Reddy, Ibrahimpatnam MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy and LB Nagar Congress leader Madhu Yashki Goud.
