Congress team visits Janwada farm, claims violation and benami ownership

A delegation of Congress MPs and MLCs visited a farmhouse at Janwada in Rangareddy district, which was associated with BRS working president KT Rama Rao, and alleged that the property was constructed in violation of norms and that its claimed ownership was being used to cover up Mr. Rao’s alleged interest in it.

Congress leaders including Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi, Whip Adi Srinivas, MLC Addanki Dayakar sought details of the land and construction from the authorities. They alleged that the estate was built by encroaching on the nala and without required permissions and demanded a detailed inquiry by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRAA) and the municipal authorities.

Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy questioned how the land came into the possession of one B. Pradeep Reddy, who claims to be Mr. Rao’s childhood friend. Congress leaders demanded verification of ownership documents and financial transactions related to the property.

The Congress delegation also alleged that parts of the land had links to properties linked to businessman Satyam Ramalinga Raju and called for an investigation by relevant agencies.

Mr. Mallu Ravi said the purpose of the visit was to highlight alleged irregularities in land ownership and construction. Leaders said they reported the matter to HYDRAA and municipal officials to investigate the alleged violations.

The visit led to tension in the area with a heavy police presence. Signs were posted on the farm declaring the property private and warning against trespassing.

Earlier, Mr Pradeep Reddy had said in a statement that the property belonged to him. He said he bought four acres in 2019 and subsequently leased the property to Mr. Rao. He also claimed that he was ready to submit the relevant documents.
