Discussions were held with more than 20 companies at the SEMICON India 2026 conference held in Delhi, raising the prospect of over ₹15,000 crore investment in Karnataka, Minister for Large and Medium Industries MB Patil said on Saturday, adding that all necessary measures would be taken to capitalize on these opportunities.
Speaking on the outcome of Saturday’s visit, the minister said that while Lam Research announced an investment of ₹9,298 crore in the state, Applied Materials shared plans to invest ₹3,600 crore in the next 10 years. The two projects would significantly transform Karnataka’s semiconductor supply chain, chip design and semiconductor device manufacturing, precision engineering and R&D capabilities, it said in a report.
A land of 73 acres has been allotted to Lam research in Adinarayanahosahalli industrial area in Doddaballapura taluk. The first silicon component manufacturing plant will be established here and is expected to create more than 1,000 direct high-tech jobs, the minister said.
The project would also mark the beginning of manufacturing of advanced semiconductor materials and components in the state. The foundation stone of the facility should be laid soon and operations are expected to begin within one and a half years, he explained.
