A private tour bus caught fire in Srikakulam district, no one injured
A private tour bus was completely gutted after it caught fire near Narasannapet in Srikakulam district on Saturday (September 19, 2026).
According to local residents, the KVR Travels bus, which was traveling from Vijayawada to Palasa, stopped near Narasannapet due to a technical fault. As many as seven passengers got off immediately after smoke was seen coming from the engine. The bus was burnt down in no time, shortly after the driver, staff and passengers got off.
As a result, traffic on both sides of the Narasannapeta National Highway was congested due to the fire.
A firefighting team arrived from Narasannapeta and doused the flames. Deputy Transport Commissioner Mani Kumar has directed transport officials to conduct an inquiry into the fire accident and submit a report for further action.
Meanwhile, locals complained that private bus operators were leaving heavy luggage and incendiary items inside the cargo cabin and this could be the reason for fires in private buses.
