India rejects Pakistan’s allegations regarding the collision between Indian and Pak ships in the Arabian Sea

India on Friday (September 18, 2026) strongly rejected Islamabad’s allegations regarding the collision between a Pakistani vessel and an Indian Navy warship in the Arabian Sea.

Delhi on Wednesday (September 16) summoned Pakistan’s Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) and lodged a strong protest against the “unacceptable behaviour” of a Pakistan Navy vessel that led to the collision.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening (September 15) after a Pakistani vessel, according to the Indian side, approached a front-line Indian Navy warship that was on a routine surveillance mission in the North Arabian Sea.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry claimed that the incident occurred following a “highly provocative and unacceptable action” by an Indian vessel in Pakistan’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

“We have seen Pakistan’s response to the protest we filed. It is the usual premonition we expected. We reject the allegations and insinuations contained in them,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at his regular press conference.

The Indian ship INS Kolkata was on a routine deployment in the western Arabian Sea when Pakistan’s naval ship Hunain behaved at sea in an “unacceptable and unprofessional manner”, leading to the collision, he said.

“The dangerous overtaking maneuver of PNS Hunain was a gross violation of Article 10 of the India-Pakistan Agreement on Advance Notification of Military Exercises, Maneuvers and Troop Movements of April 1991, which stipulates that naval units at sea must not be within three nautical miles of each other.” said Jaiswal.

The Pakistani side was again “advised” of the need for all military units to exercise due care and respect the provisions of relevant agreements between the two sides to prevent recurrence of such incidents, he said.

Mr. Jaiswal said that the incident did not cause any major damage to INS Kolkata and that it remains at sea.
