India on Wednesday (April 30, 2025) banned Pakistani airlines in the use of its airspace in the middle of the escalating tension with neighboring countries as a result of the terrorist attack of Pahalgam.
Sources said that a notam (announcement for airmen) was issued, which prohibits Pakistani airlines from using Indian airspace.
This development comes a week after Pakistan has banned Indian carriers to use its air space.
PIA will cancel all flights to and from northern areas of POK
Meanwhile, the Pakistani national carrier on Wednesday (April 30, 2025) canceled all flights to AZ Gilgit, Skard and other northern areas in Pakistan occupied Kashmir for security reasons.
Urdu Daily Yang, who quoted the flight schedule, announced that Pakistani International Airlines (PIA) canceled two years from Karachi and Lahore to Skard.
They were also canceled two years from Islamabad to Skard and four years from Islamabad to Gilgit, said paper and quoted air sources.
Pakistan intensified the monitoring of its airspace in the middle of increased safety concerns about stress with India, Express Tribune reported.
“For security reasons, all commercial flights that have on Wednesday were scheduled for AZ Gilgit and Skard,” he said.
Officials stated that the measures are preventive and focus on ensuring the safety of the national airspace during regional tension.
The Pakistani authorities also placed all the airports under high readiness, which significantly increased the security and tracking protocols, the paper added.
