After the viral traffic jam, the traffic police and residents of Whitefield undertook temporary road repairs

A day after East Bengaluru’s Gunjur-Varthur area was hit by heavy traffic jams due to ongoing civil works and poor road conditions, Whitefield traffic police along with local residents have temporarily created a patchwork at key stretches in the area.

On Thursday, hundreds of schoolchildren were said to have been stuck in buses for more than two hours, even on routes shorter than 5km, sparking anger among parents. The traffic police said on Thursday that civil works on SH 35 (Varthur-Sarjapur Road), coupled with white lining on Gunjur Club Road and poor infrastructure, led to this situation.

On Friday, transportation staff and residents identified areas requiring immediate attention along the stretch and began temporary backfilling and repairs to the damaged sections.

Conditions at the site are continuously monitored and appropriate traffic diversions are being implemented, according to police sources.
