My party will protect the self-respect of the ‘original Reddys’, says Vijaya Sai Reddy

Former Rajya Sabha member V. Vijaya Sai Reddy on Friday announced that he would soon form a new political party to protect the “self-respect of the indigenous Reddy community of Andhra Pradesh” while respecting all castes and religions.

Addressing the media here during his district tour, Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy said that his party’s flag would be hoisted on the auspicious day of ‘Ekadashi’ after the Vijaya Dasami festival, meaning its foundation day.

The former MP demanded that the coalition government immediately set up a Reddy Corporation. Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy targeted the leadership of the Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress Party (which he represented in the Rajya Sabha) that “these two families have no love or interest in Rayalaseema but do politics only for votes and power”.

“Chandrababu Naidu (Chief Minister and National President of TDP) and Jagan Mohan Reddy (President of YSRCP and former CM) should explain what happened with the Sribagh Pact and what development they have done in Rayalaseema,” he said.

“Rayalaseema is not just about Reddys. Many communities from the region have sacrificed their lives for the country. Unemployment is forcing large-scale migration from the backward region,” he said.

Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy claimed that every person, including an unborn child, in the state carries a debt of ₹5,000. The state has led the way in ganja cultivation for 15 years and strict laws were a must to curb this menace.

A third alternative

He claimed that his party would emerge as a third alternative in the state on the lines of actor Joseph Vijay’s TVK party in Tamil Nadu. “If people vote for me, I will make a socially engaged youth the Chief Minister and act as a guide,” said Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy.

“If my party comes to power, public schools will be fully strengthened with free, quality education with quality teachers,” he declared. His other promises included creation of 30 thousand jobs in five years, publication of job calendar on 1st January every year through APPSC, abolition of outsourcing and DSC system and pressure-free recruitment.

Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy further announced monthly allowance of ₹10,000 to unemployed youth till they get jobs, 66% reservation for youth in elections and representation of every community in the legislature. “I am strongly opposed to religious conversions through inducement,” he said.

On a TV channel suggested by his daughter, Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy said he had no ties with it and would remain neutral in content.
