Over 10,000 land titles ready for distribution in 100-day program: Revenue Minister

More than 10,000 land titles have been readied for distribution across Kerala as part of the state government’s 100-day action programme, more than double the original target of 5,000, Revenue Minister AP Anilkumar said on Friday (September 18).

Inaugurating the District Patta Mela here, the minister said the initiative has benefited several families who have been waiting for decades to get legal titles to the land they occupied.

The government had initially set a target of distributing degrees to 5,000 beneficiaries across the state in a 100-day programme. “More than 10,000 titles are now ready for distribution,” the minister said.

The minister also said that more than 35,000 applications for land conversion have been processed under the scheme. The government’s attitude that land disputes should not remain unresolved helped speed up the distribution of land rights, he said.

He said steps would be expedited to issue land titles to people living in hilly and coastal areas.

As many as 1,845 land titles in various categories were distributed on the occasion.

TO Mohanan, MLA, who presided over the function, said that several government offices in Kannur were functioning from rented buildings and urged the government to sanction another civil station to address the issue.

The event was attended by Mayor P. Indira, MLAs TK Govindan Master and PK Praveen and officials.
