Science workshops can promote an ecological lifestyle: DEO

Visakhapatnam District Director of Education N. Prema Kumar said nature workshops could help cultivate an eco-friendly lifestyle among students. Addressing the National Green Corps District Teachers’ Nature Workshop at Gopalapatnam Boys’ High School on Thursday, he emphasized the need to create awareness about environmental protection through activities and urged educational institutions to grow plants.

NGO Green Climate Team founder secretary JV Ratnam encouraged people to develop social forests using seed balls and trained teachers to create them. He also called for the protection of livestock and birds from the summer heat by sowing seeds of small grains as fodder.

He emphasized the need to grow palm groves along the coast, ponds and river banks. Teachers were trained to make bags and paper packaging from unused materials.
