Relatives say the delay in caesarean section led to the death of the fetus at Thalassery Hospital

The woman’s relatives filed a complaint against the gynecologist at Thalassery General Hospital, alleging that the delay in caesarean section led to the death of her foetus.

The woman, who was nine months pregnant, was admitted to the hospital to give birth on Tuesday morning (15 September) and was taken to the delivery room at around 4am on Thursday (17 September). Her relatives claimed that at around 8 am, the doctor informed them that an immediate operation was required.

They claimed that the operation was performed only an hour later and that they were subsequently informed that the fetus had died in the womb. Relatives claimed that the death was caused by a delay in performing a caesarean section.

The doctor rejected the allegation and said the death was caused by a rare complication involving the separation of the placenta in the uterus. She said an emergency operation was performed and every possible effort was made to save the fetus.

The hospital superintendent also claimed that the operation was performed immediately and that the doctors made every effort to save the fetus under extraordinary circumstances.
