In a shocking incident, a 45-year-old woman died after she was mauled by a pack of stray dogs at SC Colony in Chatakonda Gram Panchayat of Laxmidevipalli mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Monday.
Police identified the deceased as M. Ramulamma (45), a daily wage laborer from Chatakonda. She was returning home from farm work when four stray dogs pounced on her outside her house around 11am. Aggressive dogs dragged her to the ground before attacking her on the high street. Two passers-by rushed to her aid and chased the dogs away. Ramulamma suffered multiple deep dog wounds to her face and head. She was taken to a hospital in Kothagudem, where she died during treatment later in the day.
She was the sole breadwinner of her impoverished family. Her tragic death affected her five children including two daughters and three sons. The gruesome incident has thrown the spotlight on the “uncontrolled” menace of stray dogs in Chatakonda and neighboring gram panchayats in the industrial hub of Kothagudem.
