Netizens, educators and experts in the wilderness in Assam said that Ncert used the wrong text next to the defective illustration of the rhino in “Did you know?” Section of the chapter “1,000s around us” in the textbook. The section also contains a “thousands of pillars of the temple” and a short account of India.
The text accompanying the illustration of the two corner rhinoceros is: “The Indian rhino is located at the foot of the Himalayas in northeastern India. The floods and healing values of their corners have led to a decrease in their population.
Summer Rhino is the only kind of two corners in Asia-created a number of reactions from ridicule to outrage.
“In the recently published textbook Math Math Ncert Class 4 shows that the Indian rhino has two corners (p. 45). Such errors are not acceptable in the Ncert textbook,” wrote Udooy Baskar Borah on the X -Social Media platform.
Bibhab Kumar Talukdar, chairman of the Assam Asian specialized group Rhino Specialist of IUCN for the survival of species, said that misinformation in the textbook Ncert fears.
“The name of a larger rhino with one corner should clarify that it has one corner. These rhinos are also largely found in the ecosystem of Assam on the low floods, except for the foothills of the Himalayas,” he said.
He said that the greatest foolishness of Ncert was mentioned in the healing value of the rhino, which could normalize poaching in the minds of children. “Ncert should further note that foods in Assam are a natural phenomenon and necessary for the NIV ecosystem,” he added.
Assam’s Minister of Education Rano Pega said that the Instruction of the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) to explore the matter.
“I haven’t seen Ncert’s textbook. If it’s really wrong, SCERT will inform Ncert,” he said.
