AFG vs IND: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stands for third consecutive T20I in bizarre call

Fans came expecting to see Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the 3rd T20I between Afghanistan and India in New Delhi, they were left disappointed when the lad was again bowled. India opted to stick with the opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson in the final match despite winning the series 2-0.

Fans flooded the Arun Jaitley Stadium waiting to catch a glimpse of the 15-year-old as the teams warmed up. As Sooryavanshi began to take a few hits, the crowd roared and some moved closer to the boundary to get a better view. In the end, however, they were left disappointed.

AFG VS IND 3RD T20I UPDATE

Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bowl in Delhi. They made two changes: Noor Ahmad and Gulbadin Naib sat and Abdullah Amhadzai and Noor ul Rahman came in. India replaced Arshdeep Singh with Yash Thakur, who was rested.

Fans will now have to wait for the Japan T20I or the Asian Games to see Sooryavanshi possibly play for India.

WHY SOORYAVANSHI SNUB LOOKS WEIRD

While India understandably wanted to stick with Abhishek-Samson in the first two matches, one of them could be rested for the final match of the series.

Abhishek has been playing consistently since T20 World Cup 2026 and also played a grueling IPL season. He would be wise to take a breather, given that India will now make the long trip to Japan for the T20I against Japan and then the Asian Games.

Ishan Kishan was also someone who could be rested as he had an injury scare ahead of the first match and like Abhishek, he has been an ever-present since his return for India in T20Is.
