Southern Railway embarked on the task of increasing the speed of express trains from 110 km / h to 130 km / h on the Villupuram-Tiruchi Section Section via Vriddham, Arialur, Lalgudi and Srirangam.
Part of the chord line is an important way of the north -south direction through which several express and passenger trains pass daily to achieve various destinations in the middle, southeast and southern districts in Tamil Nadu.
The part of the double line, which fell under the limits of Tiruchi Railway, testifies to the operation of some international express trains that advance to Keraly and those in the northern and eastern parts of the country, except for the operation of freight trains carrying various commodities.
Before increasing the sectional speeds of trains to more than 170 km Villupuram-Tiruchi, electrified authorities have identified the South railway authorities a number of work to be carried out. The rule has main and small bridges, exceeding the level with the crew, signals, limited use of metro and loop line.
The work associated with increasing the speed of trains will be carried out in parts from Villupuram to Vriddhachalam and Vriddhachalamu to Tiruchi. The engineering, signal and telecommunications department must mainly participate in the performance of work to increase the speed limit of trains.
The railway official stated that the work had already begun without affecting the regular movement of trains. One of the main works to be carried out was deep stress screening to increase the pillow along the section. Packing the track to repair the alignment was another part to be carried out. The curves along the section must be alleviated to be suitable for the operation of trains at 130 km / h, the official said. Fencing along the vulnerable areas to prevent exceeding the footsteps was another task to be carried out.
The clerk said the installation of double remote signals from Villupuram into Vriddhahclam is approaching completion. The railway authorities will impress the installation of double distant signals on the section from Vriddhachalam to Sillakudi and from Sillakudi to Tiruchi. Installing double remote signals is to allow the trains to move faster and their safe operation. The plans are to install intermediate block signals for long sections, added the clerk.
The clerk said that the whole work is expected to be completed in the next fiscal. Increasing the sectional speed limit of express trains would shorten the travel time. The BG Villupuram-Tiruchi section shows more than 100 express and passenger trains every day, making it one of the busiest routes in the southern railway zone.
The long list of express trains that pass through the chord line include Vande Bharat, Ananthapuri SuperFast Express, Vaigai Express, Pandian Express, Palalavan Express, RockFort Express and Howrah Express.
