The Mandya district set a new scale according to the Warranty Warranty Act of Mahatma Gandhi (MGNEGA) by achieving 102.55% of its annual goal for 2024-25, providing considerable opportunities for livelihood for rural community.
Mandya Zilla Panchayat (ZP), who oversees the implementation of the program, has gained praise for its effective performance. A total of 3,44,904 families were issued, of which 1,46,039 cards remained active, which within this program benefited 2,58,697 individuals.
Against the targeted 27 male day for Mandya district successfully created 27 69 096 working days. Among the talkes, Kr Pet excelled by reaching 144.55% of its goal and created 7.64,005 men against the expected 5.28 538. Followed by Maddur Taluk, which reached 106.63% by generating 6,89,083 men against 6,49,083.
Zilla Panchayat noted that MGNGA played a key role in reducing the migration of rural areas by providing job opportunities in villages.
For 2025–26, action plans prepared by gram Panchayats were approved, ensuring that upcoming works are necessary and beneficial for the community. Officials were ordered to focus on effective and timely implementation of projects.
Importantly, the daily wage under MGNGA was revised from 349 to 370 GBP per person that was effective 1 April 2025. After revision, the family can complete 100 days of work now earn 37,000 GBP per year compared to 34,900 GBP in the previous year.
The Ministry of the Union Rural Affairs announced revised rates through a recent order.
