The Vice President will attend the Hyderabad Liberation Day event at the Parade Grounds on September 17

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan will be the chief guest at the Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations organized by the Center at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on September 17. The event will include a parade of paramilitary forces and cultural programs.

Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy (Coal and Mines), Gajendra Singh Shekhawat (Tourism and Culture) and Bandi Sanjay Kumar (Home Minister) along with senior BJP leaders are expected to attend the celebrations.

Ahead of the event, Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy, accompanied by State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao and other party leaders, inspected the measures on Tuesday.

Mr. Kishan Reddy said the celebrations were meant to honor the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives during the struggle against the Nizam rule. The program was organized to recognize the aspirations of the local people, arguing that previous governments had not given due importance to this opportunity. He urged the public to participate in large numbers.

Other BJP leaders also criticized the Congress government and the BRS regime, alleging that they had diluted the significance of the Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations due to vote bank considerations. Speaking at the launch of the book ‘September 17 – Telangana Vimochana Dinamu’ authored by Osmania University Professor G. Laxman, Mr. Ramchander Rao emphasized the need to educate the younger generation about the history of Hyderabad State’s integration with the Indian Union.

He said many young people did not realize that while India achieved independence in 1947, the erstwhile state of Hyderabad, including the Telangana region, remained under the rule of the Nizams until it was incorporated into the Indian Union in September 1948. History related to the liberation struggle must be conveyed to students in a simple and matter-of-fact manner, he said.

Mr. Ramchander Rao expressed hope that the book would help young readers better understand the historical significance of September 17 and also accused Congress governments of corruption and said the BJP would continue to fight against such practices.

Rajya Sabha member K. Laxman argued that successive governments had failed to highlight the struggle for the liberation of Hyderabad and honor the intellectuals who had contributed to various public movements in the state. He also accused the Congress government of irregularities in land transactions involving public land and urged people to take inspiration from the legacy of freedom fighters like Chakali Ailamma while protecting public interests.
