Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned the terrorist attack of Pahalgam during a telephone call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and emphasized the need for regional cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
Mr. Pezeshkian said on Saturday that Iran would clearly condemn such “inhuman deeds”, the Iranian embassy in Nový Delhi said in a post on the X.
These tragic events intensify the shared responsibility of all countries in the region and adequate the regional states to eliminate the roots of terrorism through empathy, solidarity and close cooperation and ensure permanent peace and peace for nations in the region, Mr. PezeShkian stressed.
The President referred to the valuable heritage of renowned Indian leaders and noted that Iran has been holding the Indian nation and his prominent personalities such as Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal “who were messengers, friendship and coexistence”. He also expressed hope that this spirit would remain in Indian relations with all countries.

Mr Modi, in turn, appreciated Iranian compassion for a tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam and noted that the new Delhi fully agrees with Teheránský perspective that the fight against terrorism requires unity and comprehensive cooperation of all countries in the region, the embassy said.
Mr Modi also appreciated the Iranian constructive role in promoting peace and safety and added that India supports the efforts of the Islamic Republic to strengthen regional and international stability.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the need for diplomatic differences of differences, including those between Iran and the United States.
He expressed deep sadness over the massive explosion in the Shahid Rajaee port and told Indian readiness to help Iran to deal with the consequences of this incident.
Mr. Modi also expanded his sincere wish to the Iranian president, expressed his hopes of the health of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and expressed his ambitions for the continuing progress of the Great Iranian nation, the embassy said.
