Rowdy-sheeter stabbed to death in Nagola wine shop, suspect is childhood friend

A 33-year-old rioter was chased, attacked and stabbed to death by a group of men at a wine shop in Nagola on Monday night. Nagola police suspect his childhood friend of involvement in the murder.

Mohd Nayeem, a driver by profession, was drinking in the permit room around 9.20pm when his friend Mahesh and others attacked him. Nayeem sustained stab wounds and died on the spot. CCTV footage purported to show the murder has since been circulating on social media.

According to the police, Nayeem and Mahesh were friends since childhood, but they had an argument some time ago. Since then, they have often argued with each other, both on social media and in person.

Police believe disputes over money were the motive. Nayeem reportedly owed Mahesh money and avoided him for about six months. Mahesh, a resident of Nagole, came to know that Nayeem was in the clearance room and went there, after which the attack took place.

Mahesh is absconding and has not been arrested yet.

Police are investigating Nayeem’s previous criminal cases and the circumstances that led to the attack. Further details are awaited.
