The ‘Seva Sankalpa Abhiyan’ will be launched on the Prime Minister’s birthday, says Joshi

Union Minister for Education, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi said the Bharatiya Janata Party will launch a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ on September 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, to mark his 25 years in public life. He appealed to the people to actively participate in the campaign.
Addressing presspersons in Hubballi on Tuesday, Mr Joshi said the campaign would seek ideas and suggestions from the public to make India a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
Mr. Modi’s completion of 25 years as Prime Minister was in itself a record, he said that due to continuous, persistent and tireless efforts and hard work, Mr. Modi not only won the election himself but also ensured victory for the party, first as Chief Minister and later as Prime Minister.
“As we move towards ‘Viksit Bharat’, we will also hear the dreams and visions of our children, our youth and our middle-aged people for a developed India. We will take their ideas and make all efforts in the coming days to make India a developed country by 2047,” he said.
The campaign will be held from September 17 to October 17 under the slogan ‘Janaseveye Prabhuseva’ (service to people is service to God). He said that on September 17, an ‘aashirvad deepa’ (blessing lamp) would be lit in front of every house as part of the celebrations.
He woke up late
On the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) by the state government, Mr. Joshi said that the Karnataka government woke up a little late and is implementing the scheme now.
He claimed that electricity generation in the country has increased substantially and that villages across the country have been covered with digital connectivity. According to him, India also has the largest metro rail network in the world.
Accusing the Congress of resorting to “emotional politics” in the past and citing politics due to the deaths of former prime ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, Mr. Joshi said that while the Congress practiced emotional politics, the BJP did performance-based politics.
He said India’s growing economic strength was reflected in increased investment and exports, adding that Indian-made products and mobile phones would gain greater presence in the global market in the coming years.
Mr. Joshi said the Center was committed to protect farmers’ interests and pointed to the annual increase in the fair and remunerative price (FRP) of sugarcane. He also said that ethanol production in the country has increased. The rise in prices of some commodities was partly due to insufficient deductions, he said, adding that the Center was taking steps to curb inflation.
The Union minister claimed that whenever the Congress party was in power in the country, it created problems and imposed restrictions during Ganesha festival celebrations. Referring to the recently reported warning of a police inspector over celebrations related to the Ganesha festival in T. Narsipur, he said that instead of taking action against the inspector, the government was supporting him, sending a message that government officials could do anything to Hindus and the party would support them.
Mahesh Tenginakai, MLA, District Unit Chairperson Thippanna Majjagi and other officials were present.
