16-year-old killed, seven injured in “drunk driving” crash.

A 16-year-old boy was killed and seven others injured after the car they were traveling in hit a median and overturned in Kokapet early Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Madan Mohan Reddy. The eight boys were high school students at Teju College in Hitec City and they went on a long journey after their birthday party.

The accident took place around 3.30am near the Neopolis police station when the car hit the median and overturned. Police said reckless and negligent driving was the cause of the accident and the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol.

Madan Mohan Reddy died in the accident while seven other students sustained minor injuries and are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The police have registered a case under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for death due to rash and negligent driving and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
