Security personnel and special police teams were also deployed for traffic management and safety of devotees to ensure that the process of Ganesha idol immersion in the coastal areas was peaceful and safe.”
The SP said that immersion of the idols will be done at designated times and precautions will be taken to ensure that devotees do not venture deep into the sea and small children do not enter it. Safety and diving instructions were broadcast to the public over the radio.
He disclosed that instructions have been issued to ensure the availability of expert swimmers, warning boards, lifeboats, lights, life jackets and country boats at the submersion sites. He said measures have also been taken to ensure that experienced swimmers are easily identifiable by providing them with special T-shirts.
