Jharkhand CID arrests two more in recruitment exam irregularities cases

The CID has arrested two more persons in connection with alleged irregularities in Jharkhand recruitment exams, an official said on Tuesday (15 Sep 2026).

Dilip Kumar Paswan (41) of Bihar’s Jamui district has been arrested in connection with alleged irregularities in the JSSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2023 examination, he said.

Paswan allegedly gave unfair advantages to several candidates who appeared for the exam, he said.

With his arrest, the CID has so far detained 13 people in connection with the alleged irregularities in the JSSC-CGL probe, the official said.

The agency also arrested the operator of a coaching center in Ranchi in connection with alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC).

The accused, identified as Sanjit Kumar, is a resident of Ratu Road in Ranchi’s Sukhdeo Nagar police station area, the official said.

“Kumar was arrested and remanded in judicial custody. The arrested accused runs Ranchi-based Shivangan Coaching and was acting as an agent,” he said.

The CID has arrested more than 20 people, including former JPSC chairman L Khiangte, in connection with the case. Khiangte was arrested on 10 August.

Job seekers have been staging protests since July 25, demanding cancellation of examinations conducted by the JPSC and JSSC and a probe into alleged irregularities by the CBI.

The state government announced the cancellation of several recruitment exams, including JSSC-CGL-2023, on August 18 following protests. The aspirants subsequently withdrew their agitation.

However, the Jharkhand High Court stayed the government’s decision on a petition filed by the successful candidates.
