Gurugram woman biker injured in hit-and-run; accused identified, police have initiated a suo motu probe

A woman motorcyclist was thrown from her motorcycle after a car hit her on Golf Course Road in Gurugram on Sunday (September 13, 2026) and fled the scene, sending the motorcycle sliding several meters on the road. The crash was captured by a motorcycle-mounted action camera, and the footage, which the rider posted online, has since gone viral.

The Gurugram police have initiated a suo motu investigation into the incident, Gurugram East DCP Sandeep Kumar told The Hindu . “We are analyzing the video and tracking both the accused and the maker/victim. We have not received any formal complaint from the maker but we are initiating a suo motu investigation and will register a case based on the findings,” he said.

The accused has been identified in connection with the incident. Three teams have been deployed and possible hideouts of the accused are being raided. Efforts are on to arrest the accused as soon as possible, the Gurugram police said.

Gurugram Police took suo motu cognizance of the video and registered an FIR at Sector 56 Police Station.

The rider, who identifies herself as Sia and runs the Instagram page ‘rebelwheels_sia_’, claimed in the video that she was chased by the occupants of a white car as she rode an Aprilia RS 457 with members of her cycling group.

According to Sia, the car repeatedly approached her motorcycle and its occupants behaved aggressively. She said she signaled the driver to keep his distance, but the passengers instead asked her to pull over. She also claimed that the men appeared to be drunk.

Sia said she continued to drive to prevent the car from blocking her path, while a friend driving behind her tried to protect her and prevent the vehicle from driving next to her.

She claimed the car continued to chase her before the driver tried to cut in front of her motorcycle. The vehicle then hit the bike horizontally, throwing it off and the bike traveled several meters before coming to a stop. The car sped off without stopping.

After the crash, one of Sia’s friends chased the car and confronted the driver when he stopped at a traffic light. Her friend told the driver that the accident was his fault, but the driver denied responsibility and drove away.

The video identifies the vehicle with license plate ‘HR30Y4949’ as its registered owner.

Meanwhile, Manish, the owner of the car, said that a friend had borrowed the vehicle two days ago and that he came to know about the accident only on Monday (September 14, 2026) morning.

Speaking to the media, Mr Manish said the car belonged to him and that he was at work when his friend from Paliwal in Haryana took the vehicle after he told him he needed to go somewhere.

Sia urged the Gurugram police to take action against the driver, claiming that the incident had put her life at risk and that he fled after the accident.

The video prompted several social media users to tag Gurugram Police, Gurugram Traffic Police and Haryana Police and seek action against the driver.

“I have nothing to say but today I felt unsafe on the roads of Gurugram. People like these are not afraid to hit people and run away,” Sia said, demanding action.
