‘Mookuthi Amman 2 – Maha Sakthi’ Trailer: Titular Goddess Nayanthara takes on a powerful new foe

The makers unveiled the trailer of Tamil superstar Nayanthara’s much-awaited devotional thriller, Mookuthi Amman 2 – Maha Sakthi on Monday, September 14, on the occasion of Vinayaka Chaturthi. A sequel to RJ Balaji’s 2020 film, the film is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sundar C.

The film’s trailer hints at a larger-than-life story of Amman set in the past and present. We see the queen of the kingdom sacrifice herself to save her son, the prince, from the invasion of enemies. Mookuthi Amman returns to save the child, but that’s not all. The teaser also hints at a brand new evil force: a mysterious woman (played by Regena Cassandra).

Above all, the trailer suggests a major shift in narrative tone: while the first Mookuthi Amman film was a social satire with rich comedy, Sundar C’s film seems to be a quintessential serious Amman film.

Screenplay: Venkatt Ragavan, Mookuthi Amman 2 also stars BR Vijayakumar, Urvashi, Yogi Babu, Ilavarasan, Maina Nandini, Ramachandra Raju, MG Abhinaya and Shruthy S among others. Y Gee Mahendra, Sneha and Khushboo are also mentioned in the cast, though it remains unknown if they appear in cameos in the film.

With music recorded by HipHop Tamizha, the film has cinematography by Gopinath Venugopal and editing by Fenny Oliver. Ishari K. Ganesh is producing the film under the banner of Vels Film International.

Mookuthi Amman 2 is slated to hit theaters on November 6 during Deepavali. Watch the teaser here:
