Dinesh Sharma to be sworn in as Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands on September 15

Former Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma will be sworn in as the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Tuesday (September 15, 2026).
Mr. Sharma would administer the oath to Calcutta High Court Chief Justice Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge at the Lok Niwas in Sri Vijaya Puram.
Mr. Sharma arrived at Sri Vijaya Puram on Sunday (September 13, 2026) along with his wife Jai Lakshmi Sharma. At the Veer Savarkar International Airport, he was received by Andaman and Nicobar MP Bishnu Pada Ray, Chief Secretary Gyanesh Bharti and senior officers of the administration.
During his tenure in the Uttar Pradesh government, Mr. Sharma also held several portfolios, including higher and secondary education, science and technology, and electronics and information technology. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2023.
Sharma succeeds DK Joshi, who served as Lt. Gen. since 8 October 2017.
