Unqualified Practitioners Found Treating Patients and Prescribing Allopathic Medicines in Hyderabad

Several Hyderabad clinics came under the scanner of the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) on Sunday, September 13, after people without requisite medical qualifications or statutory registration were found practicing allopathy, prescribing medicines and treating patients during surprise inspections.

The inspection was carried out by TGMC members Dr. G. Srinivas, Dr. V. Naresh Kumar and Dr. KUN Vishnu. At Shifa Clinic in Golconda, BUMS qualified M Shabbir Hussain allegedly provided allopathic treatment to both child and adult patients without required registration.

Two persons, including Farooq, who said he had completed an intermediate, and Gazal, a BUMS qualification, were found treating patients without the required medical qualifications at a health care clinic in Rajendranagar.

At Sai Ganesh First Aid Centre, Ch. Narayana and at Mother First Aid Center, Dileep, also provided medical services without the required qualification. At the Sai Rajasekhar clinic, he allegedly practiced medicine in the name of BV Ramanath without the required registrations.

The board also flagged the medical certificate and surgical practice of a doctor at Shreya Hospital in Serilingampally. Dr. P. Sharath Babu with MBBS degree presented himself as MS Orthopedist and performed orthopedic procedures including joint replacement surgeries. At Bhaskar Clinic, Bhaskar with a BA degree ran a clinic named Dr. Anita and provided medical services. Further investigation is underway.
