The Prakasam district ranked first in a livestock sector and fifth in Andra Pradesh’s milk production according to a vision document prepared by the district administration under the Swarna Andhra@2047 program, said collector A. Thameem Ansaria on Saturday during the World Veterinary Day in NTR Kalakhetram in Ongola.
She said, “Prakasam is a backward district that has 17,525 families living in poverty, and most of them depend on the milk industry for their livelihood.
The collector said that the officials of the animal breeding department should try to keep the district at the top in the milk sector. She introduced Mementos winners of sports competitions organized for employees of the department. She praised medical services provided by veterinarians and called them as a rescuer of mute animals. Veterinarians also played a key role in the prevention of zoonotic diseases transmitted from livestock, she added.
She urged people to extinguish animals this summer season.
